G. Foster Tessem Q.C   (Partner)

Foster commenced and completed articles with John Hagemeister, Q.C. of the firm Salloum Hagemeister in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1970.

Foster specializes in farm intergenerational transfers, real estate, corporate reorganization, taxation and estate planning and as Swift Current, as well as the rest of the Province has been prospering greatly for the past 5 or so years, has a very busy practice. Saskatchewan has been and continues to be a very exciting and dynamic province to carry on the profession.

Throughout the course of Foster's professional career, he has conducted several seminars at the request of financial institutions, financial advisors and PLEA and continues to assist local organization in their legal requirements.

Foster is currently a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Southwest Bar Association, being past president of the Southeast Bar Association from 1975 to 1982 and past president of the Southwest Bar Association from 1983 to 1989.

Foster received his Queen's Counsel appointment in December 2012.

Jakob D. Wiebe   (Partner)

Jakob D. Wiebe received his Law Degree (LL.B.) and Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) from the University of Saskatchewan. He was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1979 and became a Partner with the firm in 1980. Jakob was an Agent for the Attorney General of Saskatchewan from 1979 to 1986 and has been a licensed mediator since 1987.

Jakob is a current member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Southwest Bar Association.He served on the Swift Current School Division 94 Board for 12 years, 5 years as Chair, as well as serving 12 years on the Swift Current Comprehensive High School Joint Board of Management, 4 years as Chair.

Jakob has conducted numerous Estate Planning and Incorporating the Family Farm Seminars throughout Southwest Saskatchewan, as well as lecturing to newly qualified Real Estate Agents.

He has also served on the Board for S.W. Crisis Services Inc. and for Camp Elim (a camp operated by Mennonite Church of Saskatchewan)December 2012.

Ryan J. Henderson  (Partner)

Ryan maintains a well-rounded practice, with his primary focus being in all aspects of family law. As he attends the Firm’s branch office in Kyle every Thursday, he is also highly involved in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, real estate transactions, and farm and corporate law.

A partner in the Firm since January of 2014, Ryan is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and he has been the acting Treasurer of the Southwest Bar Association since 2013. He is one of the few lawyers in Swift Current licensed to practice in collaborative law as a member of the Collaborative Lawyers of Saskatchewan.

Ryan was raised in the Swift Current area, receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and completing his law degree at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He resides on an acreage located just outside of Swift Current with his wife and three children. Ryan and his family are actively involved in the community and have deep family connections to the community, and will always call Swift Current home.

Logan L. Spearing  (Partner)

Logan L. Spearing practices primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial law, real estate, business organization and succession, estate planning and estate administration.  Logan’s practice involves advising clients regarding general business and litigation matters.

Logan was raised in Swift Current and attended the University of Saskatchewan to obtain his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political studies and international development.  Logan attended the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2013.  After completing his education, Logan returned to Swift Current with his family to carry on his practice.

Logan first came to the firm as a summer student in 2011 and 2012.  In 2013 he returned as an articling student, completing his articles and becoming an associate in 2014. In 2015, the firm was happy to welcome Logan as a partner. 

Logan is currently a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Southwest Bar Association, and the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association.  He also volunteers with Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan at their free legal clinic days in Swift Current.

Scott K. Allen  (Associate Lawyer)

Scott carries on a broad practice touching upon many areas including Litigation, Family Law, Criminal Law Corporate/Commercial Law and Agricultural Law. Scott has a particular interest in meeting the legal needs of small to medium sized business enterprises.

Scott pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Calgary and completed two degrees, one in Political Science and another in History. Scott later attended the University of Saskatchewan College of Law. He completed his legal education in 2013. His articles were completed at MacBean Tessem were he is continuing his practice as an associate.

Stacey Thomson  (Associate Lawyer)

Stacey joined our office as an associate in July of 2016 and practices in a variety of areas of law including estate planning, estate administration, corporate and commercial matters, and real estate transactions. Stacey particularly enjoys assisting and advising on business transactions, preparing and drafting various agreements, and establishing new entities, including not-for-profit entities and registered charities. Stacey also has an interest in advising on guardianship applications, wills, powers of attorney and health care directives.

Stacey is currently a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Southwest Bar Association. As well, she attends to our Shaunavon branch office every Monday.

Nicholas Koltun  (Associate Lawyer)

Nicholas A. Koltun was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. He relocated to Swift Current following graduation from law school and resides in the McMahon area with his wife and children.

Nicholas has a varied practice with a wide variety of interests. Given his agricultural connections, he is particularly interested in helping agricultural producers with their legal needs. His practice also focusses on corporate commercial work, civil litigation and builders’ lien litigation.

Nicholas completed 3 years towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Pharmacology before starting his Law Degree. He graduated with his Law Degree (J.D.) in 2016 from the University of Saskatchewan. Nicholas received the Award of Distinction for the 2016-17 Saskatchewan CPLED Bar Admission Program and completed his articles in August of 2017.

In addition to working at the firm Nicholas and his family operate a mixed farming operation with his wife’s extended family.
